Reykjavik

There wasn’t enough wind to keep the sails from flogging. Flogging, popping, the sails going slack, then violently filling. Yanking on the gear suspending the mast, the stays supporting the mast. It puts an undo stress on the boat.

The conversation started after a row of the flogging. It makes you cringe, “Fuck”. It’s very uncomfortable.

I popped up from my bunk and saw Charlie on his phone, researching, looking for places along the south course. The south coast a more favorable direction with the current wind. And don’t forget the not so unlimited diesel supply.

So the conversation goes round. Should we make a run four the south coast? Nothing there after Reykjavik. Vertical walls with no place to anchor. “We’d miss the fjords on the north side”.” And so on. And as so often happens we ended up back one the original course. We will head to Isafjordor. We will have a day or so of motoring tomorrow. Then there Wilkie be some moire significant wind too get us north and east.

Sailing today saw us sailing wing on wing, the partial genoa was out with the pole Larry and Charlie set with James at the help. The main was on port the smaller sail on starboard. The little sail keeps the boat moving through the flogging of the main. You can see images online as we didn’t take any today.

We are in our one hour charge phase with the motor on.

Dinner, pork cutlets, with sweet German cabbage, potatoes. Looks like we are going to Germany.

In the meantime 324 miles to Iceland.
