Car

We got into the car this morning and drove the Faroe Islands. Amazed at the views; grandeur. Enormous valleys. Sheep. Sweeping views of the ocean and bay us.

Four of us crammed into a sedan, everyone with an opinion. We managed the day nicely.

Amazed at the tunneling here, makes the Eisenhower Tunnel in the Rockies look like a kids beach project.

We went through the first undersea roundabout, listening to Radiohead at full volume.

There is a prosperous feeling here. Tons of fish farming.

On one of the many hairpin turns James had us go into a sweet little town. There was a church from 1885, with a cemetery on the sea side. He takes these church pics from all over the world.

Larry came up from sea edge said “get your suit”. Without hesitation I changed and we scrambled down the rocks to what turned out to be a perfect spot for a dip. Charlie jumped in. The water was perfect, kelp handholds to get out, barnacles to grip and…

At the port we met Julia from Spain. See the picture of Thalassa. A former fishing vessel that was converted into vessel used for among other things was used for leadership training for teenagers from around Europe. We learned that she mentored the kids as they sailed from France to The Faroes. Seemed like a dream to be on a boat as a teenager…

Lots of walking around Torshavn. And then the car. Tomorrow we are making a go at going to the island nearby that has a “hanging lake.”
