What a town, city. Cosmopolitan, old, industrial, tourists, crowded sidewalks, high end clothes, second hand vintage.
Our view, right at the lip of the bulwark let us jump in and out at leisure.
Today we wandered. Gave ourselves to 2. James found the second hand shop and got some jeans to go home in. Charlie ate a medley of sweet food; some cooked some not. Larry had a moment; with a beer and some fish soup realizing the dream was realized, Jonathan found a public sauna with a cold dip in the harbor. All were fortunate. James had pastries and coffee, we found clothes in Uff the second hand store.
And so on. The city is deep. In history. We watched the restoration of some of the 300 year old buildings using wood native to Scandinavia, using tools the old guys used. Keeping it real.

The sauna, boy did I need this cleaning, is a public sauna. Built by volunteers during covid. It was attached to the bull work of an industrial area of Bergen, floating. Sit in the heat, jump in the bay. Rinse and repeat. Finished with a cold shower.
So cool scootering around the town.
I ran into Larry on the way back who said the fish soup was not to be missed. After some in and out of yarn, and sweater and second hand stores i headed back to the boat. “Jonathan” I heard my name yelled. I joined him and Charlie for a beer at a pub. Then followed Charlie over to the street food and had Reindeer burgers and fish soup to complete the day.
All of us were captivated by Bergen.

And we are off again.
We are headed to the Hardangerfjord region. A Norwegian fjord. We have been in the fjords of Newfoundland, we are curious to see what these are like. We are to explore this area for a few days. It has been a sweet sail over here. Weaving in an out if islands and rocks. Seems a little like Maine.
Charlie and James took these. Left Bergen and entered the fjord archipelago (not sure what to call it) area to the south off the city. we sailed about 40 miles. Had meat pies and root vegetables. The experience was hard to contain, all of what we were seeing. Misty clouds shrouding rock faces, clear cut hill diodes., men gill netting from small boats, enormous concrete bridge. Boat houses and farmsteads and on and on.
